This summer’s widespread heatwaves brought record-breaking and life-threatening temperatures across the United States, even in regions typically unaccustomed to such boiling seasonal conditions.
In Massachusetts, people were talking about the climate-fueled realities and risks of extreme heat like never before — in no small part thanks to the Barr Foundation’s extreme heat storytelling campaign.

Join us Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. ET for a Peer Learning Call: How the Barr Foundation is Investing in Climate Resilience Storytelling to learn about the campaign, the steps that went into creating it and how the model can work for funders looking to invest in communications.

- A model for collective climate storytelling
- Considerations for funding this work
We’ll also unpack the specific questions and talking points that went into crafting the campaign strategy, which resulted in several local media stories, such as:
- How does extreme heat impact outdoor workers?
- What are the health and safety impacts?
- How are community-based nonprofits protecting people from extreme heat?
- And what policies do we need in place to build climate resilience?
There will also be time to hear from funder peers about how they are elevating climate communications in their work.
