Rural communities are too often viewed through the lens of economic disinvestment, population loss, limited infrastructure, and barriers to opportunity. Across California’s North State, Indigenous, Black, Hmong, Latino, and other rural leaders are building a different narrative—one rooted in collaboration, resilience, and shared prosperity.
Join the Rural Funders Working Group of Smart Growth California on June 23 from 1:00–2:15 PM PT for a conversation exploring what it looks like to invest in rural communities of color. We’ll hear from members of the North State Inclusive Economic Development Collective, which emerged from The Center at Sierra Health Foundation’s Community Economic Mobilization Initiative and brings together rural leaders working to build local power, economic opportunity, and long-term resilience.
Together, these leaders are strengthening local economies, building civic infrastructure, and creating pathways to long-term resilience through collaboration and shared leadership.
The webinar will also preview the upcoming North State Funders Tour and Solidarity Economics Gathering taking place August 17–18.
