SoCal Grantmakers Convening
In December 2025, the Recreation and Parks Commission of the City of Los Angeles adopted a new Parks Needs Assessment (PNA) that will guide the future of parks in L.A. for a generation to come. But now the city needs to find funding to implement the plan and revive a Department of Recreation and Parks that has been starved of funding for more than a decade. This session will explore the PNA’s findings, the urgent need for long-term investment in equitable parks and public spaces, and the broader issues it intersects with—extreme heat, public health, community-rooted stewardship, and climate resilience. Co-hosted by Smart Growth California and The Funders Network.
