Litigation has not been a primary tool of transportation advocacy, but it holds potential to accelerate change towards a more sustainable and just transportation system. A new scan from The Funders Network provides a high-level overview of the approaches and people who are filing state constitutional challenges based on climate protections, using legal action to fight freeway expansions and trying to hold agencies accountable for dangerous street designs.
Join a learning call on March 10, at 4 pm eastern with funders and advocates whose work is featured in the scan. The strategies and learnings are relevant to issue areas beyond transportation. We’ll discuss why some funders are leery of legal action but are also interested in tapping into the power of the judicial system.
Join us for short presentations, discussion and brainstorming on next steps and further opportunities. This call is open to funders, advocates and others.
Guests include:
- Joanna Zeigler, Our Children’s Trust
- Ben Crowther, America Walks
- Miriam Schoenfield, Rethink35
- Beth Osborne, Smart Growth America
Moderated by Martha Roskowski, coordinator of the Mobility and Access Collaborative.
