In September, the Southern California Grantmakers Environmental Funders Group came together virtually in the midst of overlapping crises to reflect on courage, community power, and philanthropy’s role in defending democracy and advancing climate resilience. Together we explored how funders can strengthen frontline climate justice organizing, support long-term wildfire recovery, ensure rapid response resources reach those most impacted, and guide green infrastructure investments—including parks and Olympic-related projects—toward equity and community well-being.
This upcoming in-person gathering will build on those conversations, creating space for deeper relationship building, shared analysis, and strategic collaboration. Together, we will examine opportunities to defend hard-won gains, align around emerging policy and funding landscapes, and strengthen movements advancing climate justice, democracy, and community resilience. Through interactive sessions and peer exchange, we will ground ourselves in both the challenges and possibilities of this moment.
We invite you to join us as we move from conversation to action—charting pathways for collective impact, investing in grassroots leadership, and imagining a future rooted in equity and regeneration. This convening will not only deepen our connections as funders, but also spark concrete opportunities to work together in bold, aligned ways across the region. A networking lunch will immediately follow the convening, which you are welcome to join.
